Franklin High School Lockdown Today – Multiple Tennessee High Schools Placed on Lockdown Following Reported Bomb Threats
Several Tennessee high schools were placed on lockdown Monday as law enforcement agencies responded to reported bomb threats targeting campuses in Franklin and Jackson, prompting large emergency responses and heightened concern among students, parents, and staff.
Franklin High School and Page High School were among the schools affected after authorities received reports of potential threats. In West Tennessee, Jackson Central-Merry High School was also placed on lockdown while police investigated a separate report involving a possible act of violence.
Witnesses reported seeing numerous police vehicles rushing to Franklin High School shortly after the threats were reported. Bomb-sniffing dogs and emergency personnel arrived on campus before 11 a.m. as officers secured the schools and began precautionary searches of the buildings and surrounding areas.
A spokesperson for the Franklin Police Department stated that investigators were still working to determine whether the threats were credible. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Department of Safety confirmed authorities were aware of multiple “potential threats” and said law enforcement agencies, including state troopers and Homeland Security agents, were assisting in the response.
Officials indicated the threats are currently believed to be hoaxes but emphasized that every report is being treated seriously to ensure student and staff safety.
In Jackson, Jackson Police Department confirmed receiving a 911 call reporting a possible violent incident at Jackson Central-Merry High School. Authorities later stated there had been no confirmed acts of violence, injuries, or suspicious items discovered during their investigation. Students and staff remained sheltered in place while officers conducted a full sweep of the campus.
The incidents come amid a recent increase in school-related bomb threats reported nationwide, with authorities in several states warning of possible robocall campaigns targeting educational institutions.
Investigations into the threats remain ongoing as officials continue monitoring the situation and working to ensure campus safety.
