Red West Pizza Wilmington Shooting Today – Investigation After Two Victims Reported Near Pacific Coast Highway and Bayview Avenue
Police are actively investigating a shooting reported at or near Red West Pizza in Wilmington’s Harbor Area after multiple calls regarding gunfire prompted a large emergency response near Pacific Coast Highway and Bayview Avenue.
According to preliminary scanner traffic and early reports from the scene, authorities located two victims following the incident. Officials stated that an 18-year-old male was discovered in the parking lot and was reportedly unconscious and not breathing when officers and paramedics arrived. A second victim, identified as a 25-year-old male, allegedly suffered a gunshot wound to the lower back while inside the restaurant. Emergency responders indicated the second victim was conscious and breathing as medical personnel provided treatment at the scene.
Investigators reportedly recovered at least one shell casing inside the business while officers secured both the restaurant and the surrounding parking lot area. The incident led to a significant law enforcement presence, with portions of Pacific Coast Highway temporarily shut down as police established a perimeter and began searching for the suspect.
Authorities requested assistance from air support units, K-9 teams, and additional patrol officers as searches expanded into nearby streets, alleyways, and surrounding businesses. Witnesses described seeing officers rapidly moving through the neighborhood while helicopters circled overhead during the operation.
Initial scanner descriptions identified the suspect as a Hispanic male standing approximately 5-foot-7 with short hair. He was reportedly wearing a black sweater displaying white lettering reading “Only God Can Judge,” along with black shorts, black socks, and black shoes. During the investigation, officers reportedly detained a possible suspect near McDonald Avenue while additional units continued canvassing the area.
At this time, investigators have not confirmed a motive for the shooting, and no formal arrests have been publicly announced. The identities of the victims are also being withheld pending family notification.
Residents and motorists are being urged to avoid the area as detectives continue gathering evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses.
